Are your virtual machines managed or unmanaged?

All of our virtual machines are unmanaged. This means that we will do the initial operating system install for you (including cPanel if you order it), and we will make sure that the virtual machine is responding to the internet. The management of your virtual machine from this point is completely your responibility, including software installation and trouble shooting.

What difference does having your VDS hosted in Australia make?

There are many advantages to hosting your VDS in Australia, including;

  • your websites will load significantly faster on an Australian server
  • your customers will spend less time waiting for your websites to load and more time viewing it
  • your e-mails can be accessed and sent almost instantly
  • help available during AUSTRALIAN business hours
  • you are supporting Australian businesses!

Once you have experienced the speed and quality of Australian based hosting you will never want to move your website back overseas!

Can I change plans?

You may change to a different plan at any time. Simply contact us and we will switch you over straight away. There is no switching fee; simply pay the difference in the plan prices. A plan upgrade or downgrade requires a quick restart to take affect.

What happens if I use all of my bandwidth or disk space?

We try and be as lenient as possible when it comes to resource usage. If you exceed your bandwidth or disk space limitations, your account will be automatically suspended, however if you notify us we are usually more than happy to temporarily increase your resource limits while you arrange an upgrade to a higher plan.

What is the control panel that comes with the VPS and what does it do?

We provide the HyperVM control panel to help you manage your VPS account. The HyperVM control panel gives you access to a wide range of features including the ability to:

  • Restart the VPS
  • View server resources such as RAM and CPU usage, and free disk space
  • Format and re-install a new operating system

The HyperVM control panel is not the same as a hosting control panel. If you need a hosting control panel, please see the “VPS Addon Services” table above.

What operating systems do you offer?

We currently offer the following 64 bit operating systems for our VPS accounts:

  • CentOS 5 (recommended)
  • Fedora 9
  • Ubuntu 8
  • Debian 4
  • Gentoo 2008

How many VPS accounts do you put on each server?

We can’t provide an exact answer to this question as it depends on which plans are on each server. We do not oversell our RAM or disk space allocations – in fact we keep a buffer spare just in case users want to upgrade, so once these are used up the server is deemed full.
